Review – Qantas Club Emerald

Normally when I review lounges they are luxurious and quite exclusive, this review will be a little different and thought it would be a fun post.

I recently flew home from Emerald in central Queensland visiting family and on the way home I decided to visit the lounge and review it. Emerald get at max 3 Qantas services a day so I was not expecting much.

First of all here is the entrance:

To enter the lounge you are given a code on your boarding pass.

As you can see the lounge isn’t big but it is comfortable. There was only about 7 people in there for the flight back to Brisbane.

The lounge has various reading material.

The lounge has a small counter with snacks, a coffee and tea machine and a fridge with cold alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

I do like that they have a small range of snacks available which is pretty good for such a small lounge.

The lounge has outside seating which is nice in winter but not summer, luckily today was raining and it was cool weather.

Bottom Line

I won’t compare this lounge to others because it’s quite different but for what it is it’s ok. Would I spend 3 hours there? No, for an hour or less it’s great to cool down, relax and have a drink.

Review – Qantas First Class Lounge Los Angeles

Hello from 30,000 feet where I am currently flying to Dallas. I am currently sorting, editing and posting as fast as I can, please excuse the jet lag 😉

Anyway…

After my flight from Sydney I was connecting onto an American Airlines flight to Dallas, and as a Oneworld Emerald and Qantas fan, there was one lounge I have wanted to try for quite some time. The Qantas First Class Lounge.

I used the T4 connector and arrived at the entrance of the lounge.

The lounge is open to on any international Oneworld first class flight and or then connecting onto a domestic flight; the lounge can also be used by any Oneworld Emerald member travelling domestically on American Airlines (Excluding American Airlines Executive Platinums)

As I was travelling on Halloween, I thought there maybe some decoration around the airport and It was quite cool to see the lounge have some decoration.

At the entry to the lounge, they offered some candy which was a nice touch.

What pleasently surprised me was how quiet the lounge was, there would have been about 30 people maximum which is impressive considering it can fit 200 + people.

As is the norm with Qantas first lounges they offer a sit-down dining area and all the food is designed by Qantas celebrity chef Neil Perry. The waiter hands out the menus as you sit down. Sadly I didn’t get a photo of the menu but the big breakfast is pictured below.

Bottom Line

The Qantas first lounge in Los Angeles has to be one of if not the best lounge in the U.S, I always enjoy my time in Qantas’s lounges and cannot wait to see the new one (London) which opens March 2017.

Review – Singapore Airlines SilverKris Business Class Lounge Singapore

These review’s from my Singapore trip are overdue however I’m finally recovering photos from my hard drive that had a bit of a fall and doesn’t work 100%. Anyway..

I left the ambassador transit hotel at around 3’oclock and made my way to the Singapore SilverKris lounges. This is where the business and first class lounges are located as well as the private room for suites class passengers.

These photo’s had to get a lot of exposure added to them as the light was absolutely shocking. There is no natural light which wasn’t a problem, but the lights were just so dull.

Bottom Line

I have previously only visited the private room, and it was great however the lounges are getting quite aged. The only fault with the lounge that annoyed me was the lack of light.

Review – Qantas Lounge Hong Kong

Hong Kong has always been a big market for Qantas. They have flights from multiples cities and have usually the routes are very profitable. Hong Kong is a Oneworld hub with 11 member airlines currently flying out of the airport.

  • American Airlines
  • British Airways
  • Cathay Pacific
  • Finnair
  • Japan Airlines
  • Malaysia Airlines
  • Qantas
  • Qatar
  • Royal Jordanian
  • S7 Airlines
  • SriLankan Airlines

Qantas have been slowly upgrading some of their international and domestic lounges for months now. The same design for the Hong Kong lounge is used or will be for the Singapore lounge, Brisbane international  and domestic lounges.

To get entry into the lounge you have to meet these requirements:

  • Qantas Club
  • Qantas Gold, Platinum and Platinum one
  • Oneworld Sapphire or Emerald
  • Emirates skywards gold or platinum on a Qantas flight
  • Oneworld Business or First class passengers

Summary

The Qantas lounge Hong Kong is a great lounge to spend a few hours in. Would I use it over the Pier or Wing First no, for a business class lounge it ticks all the boxes and Qantas have done a great job with the lounge.

Review – The New Cathay Pacific Pier Business Class Lounge Hong Kong

While my layover waiting for my flight to Tokyo I was very interested in going and having a look at the newly renovated Pier business class lounge. While visiting Hong Kong on my previous trip the lounge was closed getting last finishes for the opening a few days after I left.

As you can by the entry photos the Pier lounges are almost identical.

After entering the lounge you get an idea of how big the lounge is, it’s massive!

The lounge is spilt into 2 parts. The first part consists of all the various bars, dining areas etc. The second part of the lounge facing the windows are all seating areas. The lounge with it’s size wasn’t busy at the front but the same can’t be said about the 1st part of the lounge.

Summary

I think Cathay have done a brilliant job renovating this lounge. I would love to spend time in it next time instead of 10 minutes rushing around taking photos.

Review – Qantas First Class Lounge Sydney

While having Oneworld Emerald I have visited the Qantas first class lounge in Sydney quite a few times now but never spent more than an hour or 2 which isn’t enough time to fully experience the lounge. Last night I flew to Hong Kong and arrived at the airport a few hours early to review the lounge.

Summary

The Qantas first class lounge is a great lounge. The marble and plant wall make the lounge feel fresh and very clean. The meals in the lounge are fresh and brought out quickly, The spa treatments from what I’ve heard are very good and the staff are friendly and attentive.

The lounge is fantastic for a few hours and I enjoy being in there.
